This young lady is a firecracker, ya’ll! I met her years ago at a family crawfish boil. She is my husband’s great niece and one of my first thoughts was, “I would love to photograph this girl!” Her hair was up, her makeup flawless, and she was in jeans and sweatshirt! Her bone structure is beautiful, her eyes bright and I KNEW she would be gorgeous in portraits. You can see for yourself that I was dead on!
Fast forward a couple of years and our paths crossed again. She’s a little older and even more beautiful now in her junior year of high school, which she is completing through home study with her mom while working at Sonic. In the meantime, I had learned so much with photography and was trying make a go of this business so I asked her to model for me so I could advertise with her portraits. We had a BLAST! We traveled to three locations and she did three outfits. At one point, she had to change in a stairwell on the rooftop of a business. I told ya’ll, she’s a firecracker and was not phased at all.
We started out in this beautiful tree-lined alley at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. The light was a little tricky and we worked hard to get just the right spots. Not a practiced poser, she trusted me with positioning and took to it like a pro!
We moved on to a Mercedes dealership very near by. I had an inspiration photo I had seen in Lola magazine, published locally in Shreveport. Assuming LOLA is short for Louisiana Ladies. It’s a great magazine and maybe someday ya’ll will see my photos there! I guess I have to ask them to use some of them first! The salesman was more than willing to let us take a few shots in the beautiful new Mercedes and while I wanted to match the photo, many of my followers say ours was actually a BETTER portrait than the inspiration shot. Just look at the backlighting on her hair and the skin tones. She is stunning!
Finally, we asked around at my favorite law office in downtown Shreveport where I took these shots in an abandoned building next door. The ladies at Sockrider, Bolin, Anglin, Batte and Hathaway pointed out the parking garage across the street and we went up, up, up to get these shots of Tori overlooking the city, in thoughtful repose, and then just laughing toward the camera.
This day was so much fun and I am so very proud of the portraits we produced!
